The Kia is the Korean car brand that has been quite a surprise lately. You could call it the "Comeback Kia". Founded in 1944 the company made bicycles. It later started manufacturing motorcycles and cars under license for other brands, motorcycles for Honda and cars for Fiat and Peugeot. In 1986 Kia partnered with Ford and manufactured the Festiva and Aspire models. It wasn't until 1994 that Kia started selling cars under their own badge, the Sephia was their first entrant into the US car market.

For several years Kia automobiles were literally laughable, many jokes centered around the brand and it's bare bones style. What emerged from those comical years was a steady progression of quality and design upgrades that have placed the Kia as one of the most reliable brands in the automotive market.
